9th March 2015
Welcome to the latest Club update.
After a run of twenty-six matches without one, the Salts picked up two draws in two games this week!
On both occasions it could have been worse as we required two late equalisers from Kyle Hough to secure the points.
The first match against lowly Hanworth Villa was a banana skin. They had strengthened and even had the luxury of playing our former striker Dale Marvell at right back! We were slow out of the blocks and when we went behind, it didn't look good but we pushed them to the end and got a reward in the 92nd minute.
On Saturday we faced Cove who are right at the top of the table and they led as early as the third minute. Again we needed to pick it up in the second half, thankful that we were only the one goal behind, and Kyle equalised for us on his 300th appearance just after the hour. Regrettably we then conceded again but Kyle had other ideas and smashed in a superb equaliser with three minutes remaining to ensure the draw.
We have another two matches scheduled this week. On Tuesday we are due to travel to Raynes Park Vale. It is our third attempt to play this match, and although they played their first match there in some time on Saturday, it is best to check our website and twitter as we will advise as soon as we know.
Then on Saturday we travel to Chertsey Town for the first time in a few years. We won there on our last visit back in January 2011 although the game was also notable for the end of Kyle Hough's successful penalty run as he hit the post that day attempting his 28th in a row! Of course Kyle is bang in form with six goals in the last four games and is closing in on the top of the League list too. Not bad seeing as he didn't score in the first twelve matches of the season!
Finally, the Super Six Predictor is up to £361 now as there were no winners. The next tickets are on sale at the Badshot Lea game on Saturday 21st March.
The weather is better now so why not come and support our boys?
Come on you Salts!
