Welcome to the latest Club update.

The League season is over and we confirmed a fine seventh place finish with a 5-1 win at relegated Frimley Green on Saturday.

It was the perfect day out, once we had recovered from conceding an early goal and when we went ahead nine minutes before half time there was only ever likely to be one outcome. Frimley are a decent side but had a massive run of defeats during the season and despite a spark in March things went downhill again and they had a scratch team out including the coach as a keeper, while their actual keeper played up front! Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see them returning to our division next season.

One question I have been asked since the win is exactly who is coming up and going down. Until the F.A. make their decisions in early May no one can be sure where they will be playing next season as clubs could be switched due to their geographical location. The most relevant question though is how many will go down after the most interesting relegation battle in years. Well, Frimley have to be relegated in accordance with the guidelines, but Chertsey Town and Hanworth Villa are the other two in the bottom three which tells you how tough it has been this season as both have produced great teams recently.

Chertsey's cause will not have been helped by the Worcester Park loss on Saturday that opens the door for Chessington & Hook United to claim third spot and the promotion that comes with it. Right now, as there are many reprives above us and may still be more in the next week or two, I believe Chertsey's hopes of survival are about 60/40 with Hanworth almost certain to stay up, but a lot also depends on whether the League runs with 22 or 20 next season. All of these intangibles will be sorted out within the next three weeks and when I get news, I'll advise it here so please keep looking.

Following the match we all retired to the Epsom Common Club for our End of Season Presentation Evening where an attendance of over thirty witnessed the following awards:

Player of the Year: Kyle Hough

Players Player of the Year: Kyle Hough

Managers Player of the Year: James Taylor

Award for 300 appearances: Kyle Hough

Vic McGregor Clubman of the Year award: Paul Marshall

Congratulations to all recipients and it is hoped that all players will return, along with a few new additions to keep them on their toes!

All that really remains to be said is to thank the Management and players for an entertaining season and to our supporters and sponsors for supporting us during that time. Whenever there is any news about anything at all that affects YOUR club during the summer, then it will appear here, so please keep visiting the web site. The weekly editorial will now revert to a monthly one while I take some time to update the stats for the season, although there will shortly be a seasonal summary to read through, just to jog your memories!

Come on you Salts!
