I me= t Derek Harper on 05/04/14 as he was present for a match to commemorate his 80th birthday two days later. He joined

afte= r meeting Bob Bell at his sister in law's wedding and was convinced to come over and run the 'A' team that had been

orig= inally the Olympic Youth Club, our sort of unofficial Youth Team. He was also instal= led on the Committee at that time.

He w= ould stay as Manager for a couple of seasons until 1965 becoming a Physio and going on= a course at Stamford Bridge

He t= ook a coaching course at Chipstead Football club around this time as well. But would go on to be trainer for us into the

late = sixties. He remained on the Committee until early 1970 when he moved down to Portsmou= th.

11/6/= 63 reported in minutes that the formation of an A team is to be postponed until 1964/= 65 on grounds of cost.

be d= eveloped, leading to a demotion in 2018 when their ground was deemed to be of an insufficient standard, which it was.

of 3= 0 shillings per game which the club were happy with. First team will have a coach to Uxbridge on 1st September�

but i= t is hoped to travel in cars for most games with club officials sharing cars with players where possible.

The = groundsman's wife will deal with the laundry. Cost of �2 for two sets of kit which was acceptable to the Committee.

Howev= er, following a discussion about publicity, Secretary Ken Knowlson announced = that he would be resigning.

He is= quoted as saying "I feel it is in the best interests of myself and the club th= at I should resign".

Feb 6= 4 Gordon Temperley to take over the office of Treasurer for the remainder of the season.

He ad= vised two further donations from the Supporters Club of �50 on 28th January and �60= on 11th February.

18/2/= 64 he also advised a balance in hand of �60 9s.10d. but a list of outstanding debts = of �210 1s!

18/2/= 64 club decide to write to Eintracht Frankfurt offering a match in the event of a tour.

Howev= er, Club Committee minutes refer to Eintracht FC Berlin

In Fe= b/March the club were required to sign a declaration confirming the amateur status of their players.

Much = discussion ensued, but the club eventually signed in late April, as did all others in the Athenian League.

Interestingly George Tarran advises to Epsom Herald in April that he didn't think the declaration went far enough and had agreed= to sign it soon after

it came out.

25/2= /64 reported in minutes that the new Herald sign was now up at the ground. Originally = this was to be the Croydon Times,

so it= looks like the two papers were linked. Also the Suppoerters Club takes up the issue = of payment from�

Watne= ys who are responsible for the other sign at the ground.

Gerry= Whooley was a striker advised Colin Bell and his younger brother Denis, a defender wo= uld also join soon.

3/3/= 64 Discussion at Committee regarding next season. Mr Gillings was happy to continue, and the Committee agreed.

10/3= /64 Committee Minutes advise that the Supporters Club have had a change of po= licy and will no longer donate money.

Mar 64 Johnny Bangs (28) joins Epsom for the third tim= e. Had been retired for two years, although had turned out for Merstham. However, Bangs�

never= made a first team appearance for us and in later seasons would remain at Merstha= m as Player/Manager.

He di= d score twice against Horsham Reserves in April 1964 though.

of 30= shillings per game which the club were happy with.

24/8/= 63 Res drew 3-3 at Uxbridge with Johnny Etherington getting HT for Uxbridge. We were = 2-1 down at HT.

7/9/6= 3 No game for Reserves.

28/9= /63 Two players injured at Edgware. Hunt and R.Clark (Nobby Clark) who remained in hospital a few days later.

He wa= s released a week ater but was reported as being "still badly shaken 2.

19/10= /63 Even at 1-1 for a while but lost 4-1 at home to Leatherhead.

4/4/6= 4 Horsham (A) is p-p. Committee meeting advised this on 31st March so it clearly wa= sn't weather related.
